The ongoing renovation work on the Devgriha of the Taleju temple in Bhaktapur has been stalled due to lack of wood. The renovation work is underway since the past 13 years and was nearing completion.
The renovation work has faced the problem of scarcity of wood several times in the past and the same problem has been faced in the final phase as well, said engineer at Bhaktapur municipality Surya Bhakta Kharbuja.
The Timber Corporation Nepal, based in Hetauda, had to supply the necessary nature of wood for the renovation work but it has not been able to do so despite receiving the payment for it six months ago, said engineer Mohan Krishna Shrestha of the Department of Archaeology Bhaktapur.
The Municipality and the Department of Archaeology have shared the renovation work with joint investment. The work began on April 2000.
A total of Rs. 27 million has already been spent on the first and second phase of the renovation work while the final phase is expected to cost around Rs. 12.2 million, according to the Municipality.
